October 13. Day 287. It's a walk in the park

Compared with just about every other part of my "normal" routine a walk in the park is, well, a walk in the park. The dictionary definition of such an activity is "something that is very easy to do, and usually pleasant". Yep, pretty much which is why so many people do it. In fact the dog off leash park along Kedron Brook is like central station in the peak afternoon rush. But while a walk in the park is a walk in the park it is only "usually" pleasant. That means there are unpleasant bits. Here I shall list them . 1) Swooping birds. Today both the noisy miners and the magpies were in full flight. 2) Mad dogs. Do not think I am pointing the finger of other people's canines here. I am referring to mine. Never get in the way of a dog on the charge after a bird or another dog.  They will bowl you over 3) Wet dogs stink. 5) Dog poo stinks. Why must they do their business at the start of the walk so you get to carry it? 6) Muddy dogs like to jump on you, because they can. 7) Small and furry creatures have a magnetic attraction to prickles and cobbler's pegs. You will spend hours picking out prickles. When you list it like that it appears like this is an activity best avoided, but as any one of these pics proves the compensations are huge. Feel the joy. It's pleasant all right.
