May 8. Day 129.2 Special Post. Anywhere Festival. REVIEW Tragedy

OMG. The Gods must be Crazy mad. At some point we stopped worshipping the sun, fire and love and started worshipping One Direction, our iPhones and selfies (for the record, I never once worshipped One Direction but you get the picture). It's hard to be believe in fate and when wearing a T Shirt with a slogan "the best way to predict your future is to create it" or some other inspirational quote. The ancient gods must be preparing to take a redundancy package or undergo a restructure. Such is the premise of Tragedy!  a new comedy which premiered at the Anywhere Festival tonight. Elizabeth Scales, the work's writer, director and producer, has come up with a really interesting concept. She's a captivating performer with a kick-arse singing voice (and great musical taste). The multimedia incorporated also really enhanced what is an entertaining take on life in the First World (from the view of a God who comes from a time when there was only one world). The production is genuinely funny, especially given this is it's first take. With refinement, some of the slower moments in the middle of the show could be reworked or removed and the result could be something the gods would really smile on.
Tragedy is being performed at the Paddington Substation Enogerra Terrace with performances on May 9, May 15 and May 16 at 7pm. Tickets are $22.
